Box Score The University of Alaska Anchorage Seawolves hit a 3-point shot with 0.9 seconds to defeat the Newberry College Wolves 74-73 in Anchorage.
The Wolves'
Drew Robinson hit a 3-point shot with 11 seconds left to give Newberry a 73-71 lead before the Seawolves hit the game-winning shot.
The loss dropped the Wolves to 3-3 with all three losses coming by a combined eight points.
Devario Sheppard and
Gyterson Louissaint each scored 10 points to lead the Newberry offense.Â
Malakhi Stremlow had nine points, five rebounds and two assists while Robinson,
Drake Downs and
Makhi Rivers each added eight points.
The Wolves led for most of the first half including 23-12 with just over six minutes left in the half and 30-20 with under five minutes left before UAA rallied to grab a 37-36 halftime lead.
The Seawolves led most of the second half including a 62-51 lead with just over eight minutes left in the game.
But Newberry put together a 9-0 run to cut the lead to 62-60 with just over four minutes remaining.
After UAA grabbed a 69-65 lead with just under two minutes left and the two teams traded baskets and free throws setting up the heroics from both teams in the final 11 seconds.
The Wolves had another good shooting night in the land of the midnight sun hitting just under 49% of their shots from the floor, outrebounded the Seawolves 31-27, made 21 of 28 free throws for 75% and outscored the UAA bench 31-24.
The Wolves travel to Mars Hill Wednesday before returning to Eleazer Arena Saturday to host Wingate.
