Bangert And Chikoore Named To NFHCA 2024 Senior Team

Senior forward Tasmin Bangert and senior midfielder Stembile Chikoore were named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association 2024 Senior Team.

The honor celebrates not only their outstanding performances throughout the season but also their influence on and off the field.

Thirty-eight athletes from 21 Division II institutions earned a place on the 2024 NFHCA Senior Team.

Newberry was one of 12 schools to have multiple student-athletes named to the team.

The two led the Wolves to a record-breaking 15-4 overall record and a share of the South Atlantic Conference regular season crown and the #1 seed in the SAC Postseason Tournament.

Bangert is a 2024 first team All-South Atlantic Conference selection and has a 3.80 cumulative grade point average. 

Bangert led the Wolves and finished second in the SAC in assists (9) and tied for the team lead and finished tied for third in the SAC in points (31). She was a four-year starter for the Wolves and is the school's career record holder for most goals, assists and points. She has 39 goals, 25 career assists and 103 points in her career. She was a first team All-SAC pick in 2023 and a second team All-SAC selection in 2022.

Chikoore is carrying a 3.91 cumulative grade point average and was a first team All-SAC performer in 2022, completing her four-year career with 17 goals, nine assists and 43 points.  She scored six game winning goals in her career including four in 2022.

During their four seasons together at Newberry, Bangert and Chikoore helped lead the Wolves to an overall record of 50-24 and a conference record of 35-17 including four consecutive trips to the SAC Tournament semifinals.
