NEWBERRY, SC – Newberry Wolves take down Lenoir-Rhyne Bears 61-53 in Home Opener

Newberry battled through a tightly contested first quarter, coming out with a narrow 15-13 lead.

Jess Tomkins dominated defensively with a game-high 5 blocks and added a double-double of 21 points and 14 rebounds.

Hannah Nimmo provided a spark off the bench, scoring 11 points on efficient 4-for-6 shooting, including three made three-pointers.

Newberry closed the fourth quarter strong, outscoring the Bears 20-11 to seal the victory.

Newberry's bench contributed significantly, with 26 points, being a huge part of this win.

The Wolves scored 24 points in the paint, keeping an aggressive strategy under the basket.

Newberry outrebounded Lenoir-Rhyne 43-28, including a crucial 12 offensive rebounds that led to 13 second-chance points.

The Wolves secured a convincing victory, finishing 61-53 at Eleazer Arena, improving to 2-3 overall and 1-0 in SAC play.

The Newberry Wolves will head on the road in their next game for a SAC matchup against LMU on November 23rd, at 12pm.
