Box Score A slow first quarter start put the Wolves in a hole they could not recover from in a 79-52 loss at unbeaten Georgia College.
Marykate Kent,
Julia Paoletta and
Sarah Ezell each scored seven points apiece to lead the Wolves. Jess Tompkins grabbed seven rebounds and scored six points while
Nyah Vermeulen had a team-high eight rebounds and four points.
Kent made 2-of-4, 3-point shots,
Gabreyel Cook added three assists and
Ella Pearson (4-of-4) and Ezell (3-of-3) were perfect from the free throw line.
Newberry made 13 of 16 free throws for 81 percent.
The Wolves trailed 17-3 at the end of the first quarter, rebounded to score 16 points in the second quarter but Georgia College led 36-19 at the half.
After playing the first four games of the season on the road, the Wolves host Lenoir-Rhyne Wednesday night at 5:30 p.m.
