Box Score Keith Desaussure caught four passes for 52 yards,
Dwayne Wright ran for 52 yards on four carries and kicker Bryce Early made all three field goals from 33,41 and 53 yards, but the Wolves fell at home to Mars Hill 34-9.
Early's 53-yard field goal late in the second quarter cut the Lion lead to 14-9.
His kick was just four yards short of the school record of 57 yards set by Eddie Taylor in a 24-21 win at Furman, September 14, 1985.
Early is now 7-for-8 on field goal attempts this season with the only one he missed being blocked. Three of his four kickoffs were touchbacks improving his season total to 16 touchbacks in 21 attempts.
Mars Hill scored 10 points in the final 44 seconds of the first half to grab a 24-9 halftime lead and shutout the Wolves in the second half to improve to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the South Atlantic Conference
Newberry falls to 1-3 and 1-1 in the SAC.

Devron Williams led the Wolves defense with six total tackles, four solo and one for loss. LeSean Glover also had six tackles for Newberry.
Jhyree Brigman and
Colby Taylor each registered a quarterback sack.

Reed Charpia completed 11 of 23 passes for 143 yards.
The Wolves will be on the road the next two weeks with games at Lenoir-Rhyne (October 12) next Saturday and Catawba (October 19) the following Saturday.
