OVERVIEW: NEWBERRY COLLEGE VS LINCOLN MEMORIAL UNIVERSITY

SCORE: Newberry Wolves 1, Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters 3 (25-16, 16-25, 18-25, 21-25)

RECORDS: Newberry (4-8), Lincoln Memorial (13-5)

HIGHLIGHTS:

    Set 1:

  • Newberry had a quick pace to start set one, taking a 9-6 lead after a kill from Gabby Warren. 

  • The Wolves were able to keep the pressure on, going on a 6-1 run and extending their lead to 15-7.

  • Taking a commanding lead after back to back kills from Annie Dill and Samantha Shaffer, the Wolves led 20-12.

  • The Railsplitters attempted to claw away at the deficit, but the Wolves were able to close out the set with a 25-16 final.    

    Set 2:

  • Kills from Kate Brown, Madison Watson, and Anna Hapner kept the Wolves and Railsplitters tied at 9-9 in set two.

  • Going on a 6-2 run, the Railsplitters were able to jump ahead and lead the Wolves 15-11.

  • Holding the Wolves to just five more points in set two, the Railsplitters finished set one with a 25-16 lead.

    Set 3:

  • Both teams began set three neck-and-neck, only straying two points apart until a 9-9 tie was interrupted by a Wolves run, turning their lead to 12-9.

  • The Railsplitters answered quickly, scoring four unanswered and taking a 13-12 lead.

  • The set stayed close with the score getting tight, the Railsplitters took an 18-17 lead.

  • Not allowing a chance to lose their lead, LMU went on a 7-1 stretch to close set 3 25-18.

    Set 4:

  • Set four started off all LMU with a commanding 7-2 lead to start the set.

  • Newberry managed to get close after a kill from Watson, turning the score to 13-11 Railsplitters.

  • Keeping a close pace, Newberry trailed LMU 16-17 coming down to what could be the final points of the match.

  • With the score all tied up at 20-20, the Railsplitter froze the Wolves in their tracks and ended set four, 25-21.
