ANDERSON, S.C.- The Wolves (6-14, 4-8 SAC) fell in a hard fought South Atlantic Conference battle this evening on the road against the Trojans of Anderson (16-3, 8-3 SAC) 88-75.
Julia Paoletta posted two new season highs this of 14 points and five assists this evening. Jess Tomkins also posted two new season highs of three blocks and four assists.
Three Wolves scored in the double digits, April Rummery-Lamb and Paoletta both led the pack with 14 points and Tomkins added 11. Deshona Gaither and Payton Cronen both contributed eight points in the contest.
Newberry's bench outscored the Trojans bench 25 points to their 15 points.
The Wolves got off to a slow start in the first half scoring 30 points to the Trojans 52. After halftime, the Wolves came out firing outscoring the Trojans 45-36 in the second half.
The Scarlett and Gray went on an 8-0 run in the third quarter to cut the Trojans lead to 13. Newberry shot 100% from beyond the arc and from the free throw line. The Wolves shot 62.5% from the field in the third.
In the fourth quarter the Wolves cut the Trojans lead to 11 points, as the two teams would trade buckets for the final four and a half minutes of regulation.
