GAFFNEY, S.C. - The Newberry College wrestling team won their third straight conference carolina dual on the road against the Saints of Limestone University Thursday evening by a 30-10 final score.
Zach Shupp got the dual started with an 11-5 decision to give the Wolves a 3-0 lead.
Ben Guilliam added to the lead with a 9-1 major decision to make it 7-0
Limestone would get a major decision to keep it as close as the dual could get at 7-4. But at the 149 bout,
Devan Moore would take a dominant 18-3 tech fall at 3:58. After that, the Wolves would shut the door, only allowing six points on two Saint decisions.
Freshman
Keagan Judd would get his first collegiate win in dominant fashion with a 13-1, which would give the Wolves a 16-4 lead in the dual.
With a 21-10 lead with two bouts to go, the Wolves would rely on
John Parker and
Devon Rice to finish the dual to secure the win.
Parker would get a 6-0 decision, and Rice would put his opponent on his back in 1:52 to secure the 30-10 victory.
The Wolves will have one final road dual, as they travel to Hartsville to take on the Cobras of Coker University next Thursday at 7:00 p.m.
