NEWBERRY – The Newberry College men's basketball team returns to Eleazer Arena for the first time in 11 days tomorrow night (Jan. 24) for a South Atlantic Conference matchup versus Mars Hill at 7:30.

Scouting the Wolves:
• Newberry (3-11, 2-7) lost its most recent game on the road against Limestone last Wednesday night, 92-72.
• The Wolves outscored the Saints 46-40 in the first half thanks to shooting 17 of 32 from the field and making 7 of 15 from long distance.
•
Jalen Johnson led the Wolves with 19 points on an efficient 7-of-11 shooting night including 5 of 9 from 3-point range.
•
James Lovorn reached double figures for the fifth straight game with 16 to go along with a team-best four assists.
•
Malik Joseph (13) and
Caleb Byrd (11) scored 10 or more for the seventh and eighth times this season, respectively.
Scouting the Lions:
• Mars Hill (2-14, 1-8) earned its first win since Nov. 15 on Saturday at home over Limestone, 86-82.
• Kadyn Dawkins paced the Lions with 25 points in the win after shooting 7 of 17 from the floor with eight made free throws; Dawkins' 19.4 points per game leads the team and is third in the SAC.
• Kory Davis and Xavier Meekins each added 16 for Mars Hill; Davis is second on the team with 17.6 points per game.
• Statistically, the Lions are one of the worst defensive teams in the conference: Opponents are shooting 51.6% from the field against them – second-worst in the SAC – and 38.9% from 3-point land – worst in the SAC. They also let up 85.9 points per game which is third-worst in the conference.
