NEWBERRY - Men's wrestling drops their first conference bout against #9 ranked UNC Pembroke, 27-15, moving their record to 3-2 and 3-1 in the Conference Carolinas.
Starting off the night strong, the wolves claimed the first victory of the dual with a 16-7 major decision in the 125 Ib bout by
Zach Shupp earning the wolves four points. The next would not come till the 184 Ib bout with
Jacoby Benjamin getting his first dual win as a wolf in a scrappy 4-2 decision bringing the dual to 7-27.
John Parker pulled in a dominating 9-0 major decision after maintaining a staggering 3 minute ride time bringing to total to 11-27. The final regulation win came from none other than
Devon Rice in a 11-1 major decision, closing out the wolves three win final stretch 15-27.
Wrestling will be back in action this weekend where they take on the National Wrestling Coaches Association National Duals Friday and Saturday. Their first set of matches will be against St. Cloud State on Friday.
