COLUMBIA, S.C.- Men's wrestling dominate the mat against Allen University with a 34-17 win. The wolves add to their win streak and move to 5-5 overall and 4-1 in conference play.
Another deceptive score, the wolves forfeited the 125 and 165 bout resulting in an unearned 12 points for the yellow jackets. The men were not about to let that ruin their night. Kicking off the night was the 133 Ib freshman Benjamin Guiliam who had an incredible 19-3 tech. fall moving the match score to 5-6. At the 149 class with a three point 6-2 win via decision was
Zach Harrington moving the wolves closer to victory, 8-11.
Earning the wolves first win via pin during tonights slate was 157 stand-out
P.J. Wunderlich tallying the wolves six points to make the score 14-11 Newberry. 174 Ib
Andrew Reed cruised by his competition in a 13-2 major decision win retaking the lead 18-17. Joining the major decision club was 184 Ib
Jacoby Benjamin adding to the now 22-17 score with his 11-2 victory.
Finishing off the night on the highest notes was 197 and 285 Ib
John Parker and
Devon Rice.
John Parker gained the second pin of the night at the five minute mark solidifying the wolves victory, moving the score to 28-17.
Devon Rice would yet again put the icing on the cake for the wolves with the third win via pin tonight setting the final score 34-17.
In exhibition the wolves sent out 285 Ib
Chance Jackson to wrap the night off where he would also go home with a win via decision.
The wolves will be back home on Wednesday, Jan. 17 at 7 P.M. where they will take on Belmont Abbey.
