MOUNT OLIVE, N.C.- The Wolves Volleyball team hits the road this weekend to compete in the Mount Olive Tournament this Friday and Saturday (Sept. 8-9). Their first match will be against Shepherd at 3:00 p.m. (EST) Friday.
The Wolves will take on four different teams this weekend over the course of two days. They start at 3:00 p.m. Friday against Shepherd and they will play Shaw at 7:00 p.m. (EST) on Friday as well. Saturday will include two more matches starting with Mount Olive at 1:00 p.m. (EST) and West Virginia State at 5:00 p.m. (EST).
Scouting the Wolves
- The Wolves enter the tournament 1-4, 0-1 SAC after hosting the Newberry College Volleyball Invitational and opening conference play against Anderson.
- Sophomore Right Side hitter Samantha Shaffer leads the Wolves offensive attack, averaging 2.94 kills per set. Sophomore setter Annie Dill, leads the Wolves with 93 assists on the season.
- On the defensive end, Freshman Outside Hitter Anna Schneider leads the Wolves with 51 digs on the season. Freshman middle blocker, Lindsey Green leads the Wolves with 13 blocks.
Scouting the Opposition
- Shepherd University enters this weekend 1-3 after competing in the Cedarville Tournament. The Rams won against Glennville State in four sets, 3-1. Palm Beach Atlantic, Cedarville, and UNC Pembrooke all swept Shepherd in three sets.
- Shaw University enters this weekend 2-2 after participating in the Frostburg State Tournament. The Bears swept Frostburg State University and East Stroudsburg University. Walsh University swept the Bears, and they lost in fives sets to University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown.
- Mount Olive enters the tournament 1-2 after competing in a tournament at Lenoir-Rhyne. The Trojans won in five sets against Valdosta State. Lenoir-Rhyne swept the Trojans, and USC Aiken won in four sets.
- West Virginia State University enters the tournament 2-2 after competing in the Hawai'I Challenge. The Yellow Jackets swept Hawaii Pacific University and won in four sets against University of Hawaii at Hilo. The Yellow Jackets lost in four sets to Simon Fraser University (B.C.) and lost to Cal Poly Pomona in three sets.

The Wolves will be back at home Tuesday (Sept. 12) at 6:00 p.m. (EST) to take on the Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne University for their second conference match.
