NEW YORK, N.Y.,- The Newberry College field hockey team finished the road trip 2-0 as they defeat the NFHCA No. 10 ranked Setters of Pace University Sunday (Sept. 3).
The Wolves scored three consecutive second half goals to cement in victory number two on the season. Sophomore
Emma Westbrook would get a hat trick on the day.
The Wolves went back and forth with the tenth ranked Setters in the first quarter when freshman
Parker Keeler scored her first goal to put the Wolves on the board to tie the game up at one. In the second quarter, the Wolves and the Setters exchanged goals as Westbrook netted her first of three goals to tie the game up at two before the half.
In the second half, the Wolves would gain the lead with :41 seconds left in the third quarter as
Tamsin Bangert notched her fifth goal of the weekend to give the Wolves a 3-2 lead. Early on in the fourth quarter, the Wolves would extend their lead with goals from Westbrook and
Hailey Moore would score two straight goals In under two minutes to extend the lead to 5-2. Westbrook would score her third goal to put the icing on the cake with :34 seconds left in regulation to give the Wolves a 6-3 victory
The Wolves (2-0) return to action next Saturday (Sept.9) as they start conference play, hosting the Saints of Limestone. Next Saturday's contest starts at 1:00 p.m. (EST) at Setzler field.
