3 Second-Half Goals Earn Wolves a Tie with Lincoln Memorial

HARROGATE, Tenn. – After trailing 1-0 at halftime and 3-0 early in the second half, the Newberry College men's soccer team was able to score three goals of its own over a 22-minute stretch to pull even and earn a tie on the road against Lincoln Memorial.

Newberry (2-2-2, 1-1-2 SAC) got on the board in the 57th minute as Joel Martins found the top right corner of the net off a feed from Seraphin Guetan.

Martins fired two more shots on net in the 65th and 67th minutes before he found Daniel Villalobos for his first collegiate goal in the 74th minute to trim the LMU lead to 3-2.

Five minutes later, senior Uriel Zarracan scored his team-leading third goal of the season with the assist credited to Justin Wolfe to bring the game to 3-all.

The Wolves looked to pounce over the final 10 minutes after a pair of red cards were handed out to the Railsplitters but were unable to find the back of the net.

Goalkeeper Jacob Cotton made seven saves on 10 shots faced on the day.

Newberry returns home for a conference matchup against Wingate on Wednesday afternoon. The game is scheduled for a 4:30 start.
