GARDEN CITY, N.Y. - The Newberry College field hockey team got off to a hot start to their 2023 season Friday (Sept.1) as they down the NFHCA No. 8 Adelphi Panthers 4-2.
Junior forward
Tamsin Bangert added a career-high four goals for the Wolves on six shots on goal. Bangert got the Wolves on the boad first to give Newberry a 1-0 lead with 4:03 to go in the first quarter. Adelphi would score to tie it up with an Ali Nagey goal with six seconds left in the first quarter to make it 1-1.
The Bangert show would continue as she would tack on three more goals in the second and third quarters to extend the Wolves lead to 4-1 in which they would never look back.
The Wolves would score on four of their nine shots on goal.

Payton Findlay would have a couple of saves.

Britte Jonker would have seven saves in her collegiate debut to contribute to the Wolves on the defensive end
The Wolves will be back in action this Sunday (Sept. 3) as they will travel to New York City, N.Y., to take on the NFHCA No. 10 Setters of Pace, Sunday's contest will start at noon (EST).
