NEWBERRY- The Wolves relied on three first half goals to pace themselves to a 3-1 victory over Coker Thursday evening at Setzler Field.
The Wolves are off to their best start in program history with a 5-0 record.
The Wolves got their scoring started with a goal from
Tamsin Bangert put one past the keeper from her own rebound to give the Wolves a 1-0 lead with 2:34 to go in the opening period.
With 8:03 left in the first half, sophomore midfielder
Lieke Varenkamp would score her first goal of the season with a slapshot that would get by the keeper off a penalty corner to extend the lead to 2-0. With 4:44 left in the half, the Wolves would extend their lead as Emma Wesbrook would score while laying down off the assist from
Sofia Urzillo to extend the lead to 3-0 before the half.
The Wolves (5-0, 3-0 SAC) will finish their four-game home stretch Saturday morning as they will host The Rock of Slippery Rock University. That match will be at 11:00 a.m. from Setzler field.
