Know Before You Go: Newberry College Athletics is hosting a free youth sports clinic on Walker Field starting at 11:30 A.M. as we celebrate National Girls and Women in Sports Day. Clinic attendees can join us in Eleazer Arena for free for both the women and men's basketball games. 

Scouting the Cavs: UVA Wise enters the game just over .500 on the season, sitting at 13-10. However, they are 4-8 in Conference and enter Saturday's game on a four-game losing streak. The team's leading scorer, redshirt junior guard Nia Vanzant, averages just under 16 points per game. She also puts up 4.4 rebounds per game, good for fifth on the team this season. The Cavs hold a slight series advantage against the Wolves, 3-2 since the teams began playing in 2019. The home team has won all five matchups in the series.

Scouting the Wolves: The Wolves enter Saturday's game after two tough road losses in which they held a lead. Wednesday against Anderson, junior guard Payton Cronen (Louisville, Ky.) led the team in scoring with 15 points. It was the second consecutive game in which Cronen was one of the team's two top scorers. Senior guard Giulia Bongiorno (Rome, Italy) joined Cronen in the double-digit club with 11 points. Redshirt senior guard Ericka Wiseley remains the team's top per-game scorer with 10.8 points per game. She also leads the team in per-game rebounding with 5.8 rebounds per game. The Wolves look to turn around their losing skid with a big conference win over the Cavaliers on Saturday. Tipoff is scheduled for 2 P.M.
