Scouting the Lions: Mars Hill arrives in Newberry sporting an 8-15 overall record, including a 3-10 South Atlantic Conference record. Winners of their last three games, the Lions defeated Division III Warren Wilson College on Thursday night, 87-69. Trey Belin scored 24 points off the bench in that game and pulled down seven rebounds. Kendall Davis chipped in 15 points and 5 steals, and Jaz Johnson scored 13. Defensively, the Lions force about 16 turnovers per game, the third most in the SAC. They also convert 74.1% of their free throw opportunities, the fourth best mark in the conference.Â

Scouting the Wolves: Newberry is riding high entering Saturday's contest, winning its last five games in a row to give them a 15-8, 8-5 SAC record. In their most recent outing Wednesday night, the Wolves held strong and picked up a 63-59 victory on the road at Limestone.
QuanDaveon McCollum (Clio, S.C.) had 14 points and 10 rebounds for his eighth double-double of the season, and third in the last four games.
Malakhi Stremlow (Traverse City, Mich.) and
Andrew Robinson (Lexington, S.C.) also reached double-figures, scoring 13 and 11 points, respectively; Stremlow also grabbed eight boards. As a unit, Newberry is top-three in the conference in both rebounding (38.9 per game) and points allowed (68.8 per game); the Wolves average a league-best 14.6 rebounds on the offensive end.
