NEWBERRY – The Newberry College women's basketball team will hit the road Tuesday evening as they head to Due West to take on the Flying Fleet of Erskine College.
This matchup will mark the 43
rd matchup between the Wolves and the Flying Fleet. Both teams have won 21 games against each other.
Scouting the Wolves
- The Wolves enter this week's non-conference battle with a 1-2 record. This will mark the first road trip of the season for the Wolves.
- The Wolves are led by their front court of April Rummery-Lamb and Jess Tomkins. Rummery-Lamb is coming off a career high performance, scoring 27 against Francis Marion last Wednesday in Eleazer Arena. Tomkins enters the week averaging 13.3 points per game and grabbing a team high seven rebounds per game.
- In last season's matchup between the Wolves and the Flying Fleet, Newberry won 38-31. Senior Payton Cronen had nine points in the victory.
Scouting the Flying Fleet
- Erskine comes into Tuesday's battle with a 1-0 record. The Flying Fleet defeated Johnson & Wales University on November 10, 64-58.
- The Flying Fleet had 16 points off the bench from sophomore guard Albany Wilson. Senior guard Anzya Cook had 15 points in the win.
- This will be the first matchup against a division II school for the Flying Fleet this season. They lost both division I exhibition games against Wofford 85-47, and Winthrop 84-43.
