Newberry, S.C. - The Newberry College men's basketball team (9-9, 9-7 SAC) returns to the friendly confines of Eleazer Arena on Wednesday as they host the Wingate Bulldogs (16-5, 12-5 SAC).
Both teams will be looking to get back in the win column as Newberry most recently fell to Carson-Newman on Saturday while Wingate is coming off of a 102-84 loss to Lincoln Memorial.
Historically, the Wolves are 19-39 all-time against the Bulldogs with Wingate coming away with a victory when both teams last faced each other on Nov. 23. The Wolves have had more success against the Bulldogs at home where they are 13-14 in the series, and Newberry has not lost inside Eleazer arena since they fell to Limestone on Nov. 20.
The Bulldogs are currently ranked fifth in the South Atlantic Conference standings, and they are led by Jarren Cottingham who is averaging 18.1 points per game which has him ranked third in the SAC in that category. Slowing down the backcourt of Cottingham and Sean Elmore, who scored 18 points of his own in the previous matchup between these two teams, will be key for a Wolves' victory.
