Newberry set to host states largest XC meet on home course. Over 6000 people are about to descend on Newberry tomorrow for the 2022 Bob Jenkins Coaches Classic cross country meet. Over 3000 athletes will be competing in 8 events starting at 9:00am.
Since developing and opening the Newberry College cross country course only 2 years ago, it has hosted multiple events including the Spartan Race this past summer. This event will be the largest cross country event ever held in Newberry. "This just shows what can happen when a community comes together on a project" said Coach Stephens. "We are excited to host this event and look forward to many more as we continue to develop the course and learn from events like this."
"I cannot thank the Johnson family enough for letting us use their farm to host events. They go above and beyond to help make every event out there a success. There are so many others in the community that have worked to make this a success."
The Wolves will host their own meet on the Saturday, October 22nd, when they host the Newberry Invitational. The Women's 5,000 meter race will begin at 9 AM, followed by the Men's 8,000 meter race at 9:45
