Wolves Set to Host Anderson in SAC Home Opener

| By:

Newberry, S.C. - The Newberry College Wolves (6-3 (1-1 SAC)) prepare to host the visiting Trojans of Anderson University (S.C.) (6-4 (1-1 SAC)) on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Eleazer Arena. The contest will kick off a four-game home stand for the Wolves.

The Trojans were projected to finish second in the SAC as voted on by the coaches, and they are led by First-Team Preseason All-South Atlantic Conference (SAC) honorees Regan Duty and Maya Learmonth. Duty ranks sixth in the SAC in kills (102) and fifth in total points (115). Trojan setter Madison Roy is also leading the conference in both assists (421) and assists per set (10.79), marks that are ranked ninth and twenty-first nationally, respectively.

In their two matchups in the spring, the Wolves defeated the Trojans in a five-set thriller behind 16 kills from Natasha Bannister and 6 blocks from Zoe Dinkins, but they fell to Anderson in the first round of the SAC tournament.

Wolves' setter Avery Webb will also be looking to extend her legacy of setting up her teammates as she nears 1000 assists for her career, and she currently has 997.

After the match, the Wolves will host SAC opponent Mars Hill on Sept. 28 at 7 p.m.
