Wolves Travel to Mount Olive for First Mid-Week Contest of the Season

Newberry, SC - After dropping their first two games of conference play over the last weekend, the Newberry Field Hockey Team (3-3, 0-2 SACC) looks to respond as they travel north to take on the Mount Olive Trojans (1-4, 1-2 SACC) on Wednesday afternoon at the Ray McDonald Sr. Athletic Complex on the campus of the University of Mount Olive. The game is scheduled to start at 4 PM.

Storylines:

  • The Wolves have dropped back to back conference games for the first time since 2018

  • Yasmin De Meyer leads the Wolves' offense in goals with three and points with eight, top-five in the conference in both stats

  • Caitlin Wassermann and Millie Gallagher are tied for the conference lead in assists with three.

  • Defensively, Newberry ranks top of the conference in defensive saves and Erin Robbins also leads the conference in that category with four.

  • Against Mount Olive, the Scarlet and Gray have a 3-0 record and have scored six goals in each of the three meetings between the two teams.

  • Mount Olive is coming off back to back losses to top-ten teams in #5 Kutztown and #6 Millersville

  • The Trojans lead the conference in saves with 42 and Victoria Lane leads the conference with 36 of those 42.

  • Opponents are averaging 3.2 goals per game against the Trojans while the Wolves have only allowed 1.3 goals per game.

  • After this game, the Scarlet and Gray have the weekend off before they return to Setzler Field on Wednesday, September 29th as they face the Queens Royals
