Kyle Dunklee scored five goals against the no. 15 Queens University of Charlotte Royals, but the Wolves were narrowly beat out 12-10, Saturday night.

Baker Westmoreland for Newberry's first goal of the game at the 12:41 mark. Trailing 3-1 with 2:50 to play in the opening period, the Wolves scored two goals in under a minute of each other. Dunklee linked up with Westmoreland for a goal, and Sunderland scored unassisted on a man-up opportunity to tie the game 3-3 with 2:13 in the first.

Scott Reed threaded a pass to Dunklee on a fast break and Newberry pulled closer with 3:05 left in the half, trailing 6-4.
Including their goal at the end of the first half, Newberry mounted a four-goal scoring run lasting well into the third quarter. Another goal from Dunklee and goals from freshman attack
Caleb Forga and Reed catapulted Newberry into the lead, 7-6 with 11:53 to play in the period. The third quarter ended tied 8-8 after the two team traded scoring plays.
The Royals piggybacked off a late goal in the third to rattle off a four-goal scoring run and took an 11-8 lead with 8:08 in the game. During the flurry of Queens goals, the Wolves took five shots, but only one was on net. While a man-up, Dunklee finally halted the Royals momentum with a score, his fourth of the game. Dunklee found the back of the net 1:17 later, bringing the Wolves back within one, 11-10.
Newberry conceded a goal with 1:34 to play and were unable to complete the comeback. The Wolves lost 12-10 despite taking four shots in the last minute of the game..

- Sophomore goalie Garrison Story logged 44:04 in the net and recorded five saves.
- Dunklee is Newberry's second player to score five goals in a game this season. Westmoreland accomplished the feat earlier this month during a 15-7 win at Lees-McRae on Feb. 17. Dunklee also recorded his 50th-career point on his fifth goal.
- Newberry squashed five Queens clear attempts and completed 17-18 (94.4%) of their own clears.
- Queens had a slight 13-12 advantage in the face-offs, but freshman face-off specialist Connor Bates won 9-14 (64.3%) of his duels in the circle.
