CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Newberry College men's tennis team was blanked by no. 15 Queens University of Charlotte on Thursday afternoon.
Freshman
Enzo Blavignat and senior
Ignacio Garcia de Sola lost 1-6 at first doubles, sophomore
Marcel Schomburg and junior
Stratas Anastopoulo lost 1-6 at second doubles, and the Wolves were forced to forfeit at third doubles.
Freshman
Clayton Elder was the first to finish in singles play, losing 0-6, 2-6 at fifth singles. Blavignat and Anastopoulo lost at first and fourth singles next. Garcia de Sola's opponent at second singles needed seven points to beat him 5-7 in the first set, but then Garcia de Sola lost 1-6 in the second set. Schomburg was the final Wolves player to finish and the only player to win a set. At third singles, he put up a valient effort, but lost 6-2, 3-6, 9-11.
