NEWBERRY - The Newberry Wolves women's lacrosse team was unable to get anything going against the #6 Tampa Spartans Thursday afternoon at Setzler Field, as they fell 19-5 in the non-conference matchup.

Although Wood scored her second goal of the game to slash the lead to four, Staley scored again to give the Spartans a give point lead. Hannah Bush and Swanson then combined for three goals to give Tampa an 11-3 lead, then Bush scored yet again a few minutes before halftime to give the Spartans a nine point lead.
Swanson scored less than 20 seconds into the second half, which led to a running clock for the rest of the game. Pierpont and Carly Vaccaro scored to extend the lead to 12 goals before Wood scored her third goals of the contest to cut the lead to 11. The Spartans then scored three consecutive goals before Plumer scored once again. Tampa scored once more just before the end of the game to provide the final margin.

Newberry will look to bounce back as they face Erskine at home on Saturday.
