MARS HILL, N.C.- The Newberry men's tennis team took care of business on the road as they opened up their 2020 spring slate against Mars Hill University. The Wolves were dominant throughout the day, only giving up a single team point to the Lions, prevailing victorious 6-1. 

Edison Ambarzumjan and Enrico showed why they deserved to be on the preseason All-SAC doubles team as they opened up play for the Wolves. The duo set the pace as they defeated Bernardes and Farman by a 6-1 margin. Luca Kirchoff and Lawrence Friedland kept the momentum going during an all-out battle against Mars Hill's Kyrel Trim and Faris Hadzisadikovic, defeating the duo 7-6. The Lions tried to bring some pressure on the day as Ramos and Neto defeated Marcel Shromburg and Ignacio de Soca by a 6-3 margin. 

The Wolves did much of the same during singes play as former South Atlantic Player of the Year Edison Ambarzumjan defeated Ramos 6-4,6-0. Newberry established their dominance during singles play as they swept the competition. Enirco Haas continued his hot streak by defeating Neto 6-1,6-0. Luca Kirchhoff would have an impressive day in singles action, defeating the Lion's Hadzisadikovic 6-2, 6-3. Marcel Schomburg picked up his first conference win of the year in singles play as he cruised by Tom Farman 6-4, 6-3. Ignacio De Soca picked up his first collegiate win for the Wolves, defeating Bernardes 6-1, 6-2. 

The Wolves will open up home play on Thursday, Feb. 6 as they take on conference foe Queens University at 2 p.m.
