Due West, N.C. - The Newberry women's tennis team continued their dominance into the 2020 spring slate, defeating Erskine College 6-1. The Wolves went undefeated during their fall slate and kept the same momentum against the non-conference opponent on Saturday afternoon. 

Newberry got off to a strong start in doubles play as Lucy Spice and Amy Griffiths defeated Loudermilk and Souza by a 6-2 margin. Teammates Madison Conwell and Lucia Davila continued in their footsteps, overcoming their opponents by a 6-4 margin. The last contest was much tighter as Elisa Aguirre and Judit Gonzalez Agud squeezed by the Flying Fleet's Wright and Valtere, 7-6. Aguirre and Gonzalez Agud were selected as All-SAC preseason first team selections as they swept the competition during the fall slate. 

Singles play was much of the same as the Wolves only allowed the Flying Fleet to pick up one victory on the day. Spice started the singles play off on the right foot as she only gave up two points during the entire match, which came in the second set. Spice defeated Katie Loudermilk 6-0,6-2. The Wolves were persistent in their play, giving up very few points. Madison Conwell defeated Catawba's Grace Coleman 6-3,6-2. Gonzalez Agud was able to get the better of Faith Wright, prevailing victorious 6-1,6-3. Amy Griffiths comfortably defeated Luiza Souza 6-3,6-2. Lucia Davilla forced her match into a third set after losing the first set 4-6. The Senior battled in the third set and prevailed over the Lion's Eileen Rickert 4-6,6-1,10-6. 

The Wolves get right back into action tomorrow as they travel to Mars Hill, N.C. to face Mars Hill University at 1 p.m.
