ROCK HILL - Newberry has been picked to finish 11th in the 2019 South Atlantic Conference volleyball preseason coaches' poll, with middle hitter
Zoe Dinkins named to the preseason all-conference second team.
A junior from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Dinkins started all 27 matches last season and was named to the All-SAC honorable mention team. She was the conference statistical champion in blocks per set with 1.37 and set the school record for total blocks (136), block assists (112), and the aforementioned blocks per set (1.37). She also ranked fourth in the conference in hitting percentage (.293) and was second on the team in total kills with 194.
The Wolves finished the 2018 season 8-19 (3-17 SAC). They started the season 5-3 and posted a thrilling five set win against Tusculum in conference play.
The Wolves travel to USC Upstate on Saturday for an exhibition match, which will begin at 2 p.m. The first home match of the season is an exhibition match against King on August 29th at 7 p.m., and the team will begin the regular season in Florida at the Flagler Invitational.
