NEWBERRY - The Newberry men's tennis team fell to No. 7 North Georgia 6-1 Tuesday afternoon at the Oakland Tennis Center.

The Wolves (8-11, 2-3 SAC) were able to get their lone point as No. 7 Edison Ambarzumjan defeated No. 35 Jess Jones in three sets. Ambarzumjan got off to a hot start, defeating Jones 6-1 in the first set. Jones was able to battle back in the second set to win 7-5. Ambarzumjan was able to secure the match, winning the third set 6-4

Newberry had tough matches across the board including two that went to three sets. Jose Navarro was able to win the first set over Niklas Zielen, 6-2. Zielen flipped the script in the second set, winning 6-2. Zielen came away with the match,winning the third set 6-4.

Enrico Haas battled all the way to the end but fell to Jared Boes in a nail biter. Bones won the first set 6-2 before Haas battled back to win the second set 7-5. Coming down to the final set, Bones was able to get the decisive 10-7 win in the third set.

The Wolves will be back home this Friday as they take on Mars Hil at 2:30 p.m. at the Oakland Tennis Center.
