NEWBERRY - The Newberry women's soccer gets a 2-0 victory this afternoon against Shaw at Smith Road Complex.
The Newberry offense scored very quickly on the Lady Bears of Shaw. Just a little under four minutes into the match, the Wolves got on the board first. Junior
Emma Harms had the ball 20 yards out before taking a step toward the middle and pass into the box. Standing just eight yards away from net was senior
Daphne Heyaime, who flicked a header to the near post for the 1-0 lead.
A little over two minutes later Heyaime would strike again. This time she got the ball just past the mid-field line. Heyaime then dribbled down the right sideline heading toward the net. When she got close to 15 yards away from goal, she made a move to make two defenders fall down. With the open shot, Heyaime rocketed a shot to the far post to put Newberry up 2-0.
After that both sides went up and down the pitch trading shots and possessions. The Wolves out shot the Lady Bears by a 20 to 14 margin, with nine and seven being on frame respectively.

Delaney Hood had a nice evening in between the pipes. Hood set a new career-high in saves with seven. She secured her second shutout of the season with the win.
With tonights two goal performance by Heyaime, she moves up in a couple of program records. The two goals give her 26 career goals which puts her in a three way tie for 5th most career goals. She also moves into 5th all-time in career points with 62.
The Wolves will be home on Saturday for Senior Day as they play the Royals of Queens. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
