ANDERSON - Despite setting a program record with 11 service aces, the Newberry Wolves volleyball team lost their away conference match to Anderson 3-1 Saturday night, dropping them to 4-15 (2-12 SAC) on the season.
The pivotal third set saw both teams battle hard early as Anderson led 6-4. From that point on, however, the Trojans absolutely dominated the Wolves, jumping out to a 15-8 lead. The Wolves won three of the next four to close to 24-22 before the Trojans hammered one down to win the first set 25-22 and take a 1-0 lead.
The Wolves stormed out to a 6-0 lead in the second set courtesy of four
Avery Webb service aces, a

Newberry would keep the lead, although the Trojans would stay within a few points for most of the set. Leading 19-17, the Wolves won six of the next ten points to take the set 25-21 and tie the match at one set apiece.

The Trojans quickly extended the lead to 10-5, then won five consecutive points to extend their lead to ten points at 15-5. Newberry would close within six points at 20-14, but Anderson won five of the next six to win the set 25-15 and take the match 3-1.Â
