HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Newberry women's soccer team second half surge help propel to a 3-0 victory over Coker on Wednesday night at Coker Athletic Fields.
A two goal match by redshirt sophomore
Jacqueline Aldrete helped the Wolves with the win against their conference foe. Her first goal came in the 67th minute to give Newberry a 2-0 lead. She received a pass from senior
Daphne Heyaime before drilling it past the keeper. In the 75th minute Aldrete would find the back of the net again for her second goal of the night, to give the eventual 3-0 final score.
The first goal of the match came in the 57th minute. Heyaime got the Wolves on the board after a pass from sophomore
Salley Slice to put Newberry up 1-0.
The first half was even by both sides. Newberry slightly outshot Coker seven to five, with three and two being on net respectively. Neither side seem able to put one in the goal as the score was 0-0 at half.
Sophomore
Delaney Hood had a solid performance in the net. She faced eight Cobra shots, with five being on frame, saving all five shots on goal.
The Wolves will return home to play Mars Hill on Saturday, Oct. 19 at 7:30 p.m.
