- Newberry has advanced to the playoffs every season it has faced Florida Tech.
- Joe Blue is the SAC Defensive Player of the Week and leads the nation in tackles after making 20 stops against Western Carolina, the most by a Newberry player since at least 1999 and five from matching Tusculum's Alan Slaughter's SAC record set vs. Lenoir-Rhyne in 2000.
- Markell Castle finished with 118 receiving yards at Western Carolina, moving into a tie with David Pressley (2006-10) for second in school history with 10 100-yard receiving games. He is currently sixth with 1,875 receiving yards but can pass Darryl Owings (1984-86) with five yards, Kelton Tindal (2006-09) with 24, and Brandon Bostick (2008-11) with 61.
- Castle is 125 yards shy of becoming the third 2,000-yard receiver in school history and needs 133 to move into sole possession of second place in the Newberry record books.
- Jamarcus Henderson is third among all active Division II players and fifth at any NCAA level with 205 yards from tackles for loss. He ranks fourth in Division II and sixth overall with 43 career stops behind the line of scrimmage and ranks among the national leaders in career sacks (21.5) and yardage lost from sacks (131) as well.
- Todd Knight has coached 100 games at Newberry, compiling a career record of 55-45. He is second in school history and 10th in SAC history in wins.
- Newberry is 4-13-1 all-time in the state of Florida but is 3-0-1 in its last four games in the Sunshine State dating back to a 48-7 triumph over Saint Leo in 1974. The Wolves' last game in Florida was a thrilling 31-28 win over Florida Tech in 2015.
- The announced attendance at Newberry's game with Western Carolina was 12,111, the largest crowd Newberry has played in front of since a loss to The Citadel in 1997 before 14,733 fans.
- Florida Tech is receiving votes in the latest AFCA Division II poll. The Panthers defeated Benedict in Columbia Saturday, the first of three Palmetto State teams on their 2018 schedule. North Greenville travels to Melbourne on Nov. 3 for a Gulf South Conference matchup.
