NEWBERRY- The Newberry women's soccer team fell to the Lenoir-Rhyne, 5-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Smith Road Complex. With the loss, Newberry moves to 3-4 overall and 0-3 in the SAC.
The Wolves fell behind early after Lenoir-Rhyne had two first half goals. Â
Sierra Chavez,
Daphne Heyaime and
Ellie Finneran all had shots on goal that were all saved by Lenoir-Rhyne. Lenoir-Rhyne added three goals in the second half to win.
Salley Slice scored the only goal for the Wolves when she received a perfect ball off of a
Katelin Morris free kick and shot it past the Bears' goalkeeper., Slice, a freshman, has impressed early into her career at Newberry. She has four goals on eight shots this season and has two assists.
The Wolves close out their three-match homestand next Wednesday, September 26th as they take on Carson-Newman.
