Wolves fall to Lenoir-Rhyne

Slice scores for the Wolves in the 5-1 loss

NEWBERRY- The Newberry women's soccer team fell to the Lenoir-Rhyne, 5-1 on Saturday afternoon at the Smith Road Complex. With the loss, Newberry moves to 3-4 overall and 0-3 in the SAC.

The Wolves fell behind early after Lenoir-Rhyne had two first half goals.  Sierra Chavez, Daphne Heyaime and Ellie Finneran all had shots on goal that were all saved by Lenoir-Rhyne. Lenoir-Rhyne added three goals in the second half to win.

Salley Slice scored the only goal for the Wolves when she received a perfect ball off of a Katelin Morris free kick and shot it past the Bears' goalkeeper., Slice, a freshman, has impressed early into her career at Newberry. She has four goals on eight shots this season and has two assists.

The Wolves close out their three-match homestand next Wednesday, September 26th as they take on Carson-Newman. The match will be broadcast on NewberryWolves.tv and live stats will be available through StatBroadcast. Links for both will be available on the women's soccer schedule page on Newberrywolves.com. Admission is free for all regular season home games at the Smith Road Complex.
