NEWBERRY- Newberry men's soccer dropped a 5-2 decision to the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears on Saturday evening at the Smith Road Complex.
The Wolves (3-4-1, 2-1-0 SAC) controlled pace early but fell behind as Lenoir-Rhyne (3-2, 2-1 SAC
) found the back of the net in the 20th minute.
Daniel Reyes answered back for the Wolves in the 31st minute on one of the prettiest goals all season. Reyes' equalizing shot ripped through to the opposite corner of the Bears' goal.
Eric Brody was credited the assist on the goal, finding Reyes open in the Lenoir-Rhyne box.
Giacomo Salvarezza scored his first career goal in the opening minutes of the second half. The freshman is typically holding down the Wolves defense but advanced to in front of the net after a free kick was awarded to Newberry.
Fabrizio Bucco took the free kick and sailed the ball right towards Salvarezza where he headed it into the goal in the 48th minute.
Lenoir-Rhyne, however, scored two more goals in the first and second halves to put the game out of reach for the Wolves. Â
