MARS HILL, N.C. – Newberry falls to conference foe Mars Hill Tuesday evening despite taking them deep in the first two sets.
The Wolves (5-4, 0-2 SAC) posted scores of 20-25, 18-25 and 11-25. Newberry's best frame came in the second match, opening up to a 3-0 lead off a service ace from
Olivia Kozemko, an error from Mars Hill and a kill form
Angela Gore. The Wolves would maintain the lead in a tight frame before Mars Hills took an 11-10.
Gore had a team-high six kills while
Toni-Anne Whitlow added five kills. Kozemko finished with 13 assists while
Taylor Garrison had five assists.
Kensley Jordan had another exception game on the defensive end, finishing with 20 digs while
Mary Siebert chipped in with nine digs.
Zoe Dinkins had four block assists while
Vanessa Blas and
Sidra Triplett each had a solo block.
The Wolves head back home to start a four-game homestand on Friday, Sept. 14, as they take on Carson-Newman at 7 p.m.
