Wolves won 6-3 due to three straight singles victories

NEWBERRY – A trio of singles victories capped off by a 7-5, 6-4 decision from Amanda Carrillo at the No. 1 spot secured the 6-3 win over Lincoln Memorial Friday afternoon.

The winning streak began in the second flight when Elisa Aguirre took down her opponent 6-3, 6-1 to put the Wolves ahead 3-1. No. 3 Marta Gomar sealed the second straight point in a 6-0, 7-6 win before Carrillo wrapped up her second set to give nationally-ranked Newberry their fifth conference triumph this season.

Lucia Davila rounded out the win column for the Wolves in a three-set 2-6, 6-3, 10-2 tiebreaker.

Newberry held the early advantage in doubles competition with duo Carrillo and Gomar garnering the opening point 8-6. No. 2 Aguirre and Davila followed it up in a tight 8-7 decision while Lincoln Memorial would take the final doubles point.
