Harms and Heyaime lead Wolves to 3-2 victory over Lions

Harms scores and assists on each of the Wolves three goals

MARS HILL, N.C. – Strong play by sophomore Emma Harms and two goals from Daphne Heyaime led the Newberry women's soccer team to a 3-2 victory on the road against Mars Hill on Wednesday evening.

The Lions scored first in the match on a free kick in the 15th minute. Fortunately for the Wolves, the lead for the Lions was short-lived.

In the 39th minute Harms sent a powerful shot on target that bounced off the Lions goalkeeper. Daphne Heyaime quickly followed up on the rebound and sent the ball through to put the Wolves on the board.

Harms would later score her fourth goal of the season in the 53rd minute on a long-range screamer from 25-yards out. The sophomore was able to put just enough on the ball to squeeze it under the crossbar and in for a goal.

Mars Hill would tie the game in the 61st minute, but the Wolves would soon regain the advantage with the one-two punch of Harms and Heyaime attacking the Lions defense later on as Heyaime scored her second goal of the evening in the 83rd minute. Heyaime scored after receiving a stellar pass from Harms to give the Wolves the lead and eventually the victory.

The match would end with Harms scoring and assisting on every goal on the evening.

Katelin Morris saved the day in the final moments when the senior stopped a shot with her body on the goal line. Ragan Hill also impressed with her stellar defense in the match to stop a strong Mars Hill offense.

The Wolves will enjoy a few days off before taking the field at the Smith Road Complex one final time this season as Lincoln Memorial visits Newberry. The team will be honoring seniors Sydney Dempsey, Ragan Hill and Katelin Morris before their final game at home for Newberry. The game will be live-streamed and live stats will be available. Links to both are available on the women's soccer schedule page at NewberryWolves.com.
