NEWBERRY – The Newberry women's basketball team will face the Indians of Catawba on Wednesday, Jan. 17 at 6:00 p.m.

RECORDS: Newberry is 9-7 overall, 4-5 SAC and Catawba is 9-7 overall, 7-2 SAC.

NEWBERRY STORYLINES 
                                                               

  • Head coach Sean Page coached two 1,000 career pointers so far; Nicola Handreck (vs. Limestone in Conference Carolinas-SAC Showdown) and Meg Essex (vs. Queens).
  • Meg Essex needs 53 more blocks this season to tie recent Newberry Hall of Fame inductee, Tiffany Johnson at 225.
  • Essex has seven double-doubles on the season to equal 10 on her career.
  • Head coach Sean Page needs 29 more wins to reach 200 at Newberry.
  • Against North Greenville Hannah Lepaio and Meg Essex became the first pair of Wolves to record a double-double in 51 weeks. Lepaio's first double-double of the season.
  • Versus Mars Hill, Georgia Elliott-King set a career high in points with 19 points and Newberry's bench exploded for 39 points, a new season high.
  • The Wolves scored 31 points in a period vs. Mars Hill, a new season high.
  • Shelby Britten had her fifth 20-plus point game of the season at Tusculum, scoring 22.

CATAWBA STORYLINES

  • Picked to finish a position behind Newberry at sixth in the SAC.
  • Senior, guard Serena Brown was named the AstroTurf SAC Women's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 11.
  • Defeated Wingate Dec. 19 at home with a final score of 60-47.
  • Roster: six seniors, one junior, three sophomores, and five freshmen.
