CAYCE, S.C. – The Newberry women’s tennis team was defeated by Anderson 6-3 Saturday afternoon at the Cayce Tennis Center.

Anderson (14-3, 7-1 SAC) took all three doubles matches against Newberry (12-9, 4-5 SAC). Lucia Davia and Kelly McManus dropped a close 9-7 match at No. 2 doubles.

Newberry and Anderson each won three singles flights. Elizabeth Williamson scored a 6-3, 6-0 win at No. 1 singles. Marta Gomar recorded a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 3, while Rebeca Martinez rounded out the scoring for Newberry with a 7-5, 6-1 victory at No. 5 singles.

Newberry will travel to Lincoln Memorial (9-4, 3-3 SAC) next Saturday. The match is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p.m.
