Anderson locked series at 2-0 last season

NEWBERRY – The Newberry women's basketball team will travel to leadoff the double header against Anderson on Wednesday, Dec. 13 at 6:00 p.m.

  • Returned 12 players and added five newcomers; three true freshmen and two collegiate transfers.
  • Newberry was picked to finish fifth in the SAC Preseason Poll.
  • Nicola Handreck reached 1,000 career points on Friday, Nov. 10th against Limestone in the Conference Carolinas-SAC Showdown.
  • Meg Essex needs 66 more blocks this season to tie recent Newberry Hall of Fame inductee, Tiffany Johnson at 225.
  • Essex has two double-doubles on the season to equal five on her career.
  • Head coach Sean Page needs 33 more wins to reach 200 at Newberry.
  • Shelby Britten has scored no less than 15 points in eight of nine games this season.

ANDERSON STORYLINES

  • Picked to finish third in the SAC, with Madison Baggett and Alexy Mollenhauer nabbing All-SAC second team honors.
  • Started at No. 7 in the D2SIDA Southeast Region Preseaon Poll on Oct. 31 and dropped to No. 10 on Nov. 27.
  • Won their SAC opener against LR on Dec. 2, 64-54.
  • Alexis Dillard named AstroTurf SAC Women's Player of the Week on Dec. 4.
