- Returned 12 players and added five newcomers; three true freshmen and two collegiate tranfers.
- Newberry was picked to finish fifth in the SAC Preseason Poll.
- Nicola Handreck reached 1,000 career points on Friday, Nov. 10th against Limestone in the Conference Carolinas-SAC Showdown.
- Meg Essex needs 67 more blocks this season to tie recent Newberry Hall of Fame inductee, Tiffany Johnson at 225.
- Essex has two double-doubles on the season to equal five on her career.
- Head Coach Sean Page needs 33 more wins to reach 200 at Newberry.
- Shelby Britten hasn't scored less than 15 points in any game so far.
WINGATE STORYLINES
- Ended 2016-2017 season with a 26-6 overall record and won its ninth South Atlantic Conference Tournament.
- Lost to #13 LMU in the second round of the NCAA Tournament 85-66.
- Marta Miscenko was named to the D2CCa All-Southeast Region Second Team from CoSIDA.
- The Bulldogs are slated to take the SAC with seven first place votes.
