Newberry hosts Lenoir-Rhyne in South Atlantic Conference opener

NEWBERRY – The Newberry women's basketball team will take on the Lenoir-Rhyne Bears in a conference opener for both teams on Tuesday, Nov. 21 at 6:00 p.m.

RECORDS: Newberry is 3-2 and Lenoir-Rhyne is 2-2.

NEWBERRY STORYLINES 
                                                               

  • Returned 12 players and added five newcomers; three true freshmen and two collegiate tranfers.
  • Newberry was picked to finish fifth in the SAC Preseason Poll.
  • Nicola Handreck reached 1,000 career points on Friday, Nov. 10th against Limestone in the Conference Carolinas-SAC Showdown.
  • Meg Essex needs 68 more blocks this season to tie recent Newberry Hall of Fame inductee, Tiffany Johnson at 225.
  • Essex has two double-doubles on the season to equal five on her career.
  • If Handreck drains 22 more 3-pointers she will tie Helen McKinney at 207.
  • Head Coach Sean Page needs 35 more wins to reach 200 at Newberry.
  • Shelby Britten hasn't scored less than 15 points in any game so far.
