Wolves Return To Eleazer To Take On Tusculum

NEWBERRY – The Newberry women's basketball team will return to Eleazer Arena where they hold a 6-1 record so far this season, as they get set to take on the Pioneers of Tusculum.

NEWBERRY STORYLINES

The Wolves have had at least three starters in double figures in eight of the 11 games this season

Newberry holds a 6-1 home record, 1-3 on the road. » Newberry is 3rd in the conference in points per game allowed at 59.2.

Meg Essex is second in the SAC with 26 blocks.

Jaya Schultz is leading the team with an average of 7.1 rebounds per game. Schultz is coming off a career-high 17-rebound performance at Lenoir-Rhyne.

Sophomore center Meg Essex leads the Wolves averaging 14.1 points per game. Shelby Britten is averaging 13.9 points per game. 

 

TUSCULUM STORYLINES

Tusculum is coming off a 76-66 loss at Carson-Newman.

The Pioneers fiinished last season with a 13-12 record, and 11-11 in the conference.

The Pioneers were tabbed to finish 8th in the SAC Preseason Poll.

Sophomore forward Kasey Johnson leads the Pioneers averaging 13.5 points per game.

Tusculum ranks third in the SAC in steals per game with 9.5.

The lone conference win for the Pioneers was a 59-50 final against Coker on Dec. 17.
