Wolves prepared for conference clash with Catawba

NEWBERRY – The Newberry women's basketball team will host the Catawba College Catawba Indians tomorrow evening as they look for their fourth straight conference win.

NEWBERRY STORYLINES

The Wolves have had at least three starters in double-figures in 11 of the 14 games this season.

Meg Essex ranks first in the conference with 48 blocks on the season. She ranks 5th in the country in blocks per game averaging 3.43.

Newberry is 17th in the country as a team with 5.0 blocked shots per game.

Newberry holds a 8-1 home record, 2-3 on the road.

Shelby Britten has 21 assists in the last three games.

The Wolves lead the SAC in ball protection averaging 14.4 turnovers.

 

CATAWBA STORYLINES

Catawba is coming off 70-66 loss at Lincoln Memorial on Saturday.

The Catawba Indians fiinished last season with a 15-14 record, and 12-10 in the conference.

The Catawba Indians were tabbed to finish 6th in the SAC Preseason Poll.

Senior guard Bri Johnson leads the Catawba Indians averaging 20.7 points per game.

Catawba ranks first in the SAC in steals per game with 10.1

Junior forward Terri Rogers is averaging 18.5 points per game and 9.4 rebounds per game.

The Wolves lead the SAC in ball protection averaging 14.4 turnovers.
