Newberry Looks to Continue its Winning Ways at Home

NEWBERRY – The Newberry women's basketball team will host the Coker Cobras tomorrow in their quest to move to 8-1 on their home court this season.

NEWBERRY STORYLINES

The Wolves have had at least three starters in double-figures in nine of the 12 games this season. All five starters are averaging double-figures.

Jaya Schultz and Nicola Handreck both recorded double-doubles in Sunday’s win vs. Tusculum. Last time this happened? February of 2012.

Newberry holds a 7-1 home record, 1-3 on the road.

Meg Essex is second in the SAC with 28 blocks. She also leads the team in points per game averaging 14.1.

Jaya Schultz is leading the team with an average of 7.4 rebounds per game.

 

COKER STORYLINES

Coker is coming off a 76-58 win at Mars Hill.

The Pioneers fiinished last season with a 9-19 record, and 8-14 in the conference.

The Cobras were tabbed to finish 9th in the SAC Preseason Poll.

Junior forward Iresha Cooper leads the Cobras averaging 12.4 points per game.

Coker ranks third in the SAC in made free throws per game.
