Box Score NEWBERRY - Kylee Shoop netted three goals, but the Newberry Wolves were unable to hold on to a first half lead in Saturday's 21-10 South Atlantic Conference loss to the Wingate Bulldogs at Setzler Field.
Newberry drops its fourth straight game to fall to 5-8 overall and 1-5 in SAC action. Newberry plays at Lees-McRae on Wednesday afternoon prior to the final home match of the season next Saturday evening against Catawba.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Each team needed less than two minutes to net its first goal of the game, with Shoop putting her first goal of the game in the net at the 28:24 mark. Grosvenor scored her first goal of the game at 26:59 to give the Wolves a 2-1 lead.
Back-to-back goals from Kahler and Grosvenor with just over 20 minutes left in the first half gave the Wolves a 5-3 lead before three straight Wingate markers flipped momentum.
Jessica Baxtrom and Killian scored consecutive goals to give Newberry a 7-6 lead with 14 minutes to go in the first half. Wingate responded with three straight goals to retake the lead at 9-7. Killian scored her second goal of the half at the 5:30 mark, but the Bulldogs found the net twice in the final minute of the half to take an 11-8 lead into the break.
Shoop scored the first goal out of halftime to cut the lead to two goals at 11-9, but Wingate scored the next six goals, keeping Newberry off the board for a 16-minute span. The Wolves managed only three shots in the drought, which were all saved by Wingate goalie Arion Pierre.
Kahler snapped the scoreless streak with a goal at the 12:28 mark, but the Wolves then trailed 17-10. Newberry only took one more shot in the game as the guests left town with the win.
