Box Score HICKORY, N.C. - The Newberry College women's lacrosse team was outgunned Wednesday in a 20-2 South Atlantic Conference loss at Lenoir-Rhyne.
Newberry loses its third straight and falls to 5-7 overall and 1-4 in the SAC, while Lenoir-Rhyne is now 8-5 overall and 5-0 in league play. Newberry returns home to host Wingate in another SAC match at 2 p.m. Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Lenoir-Rhyne won the opening draw and scored its first of 10 first half goals just 15 seconds into the game. Kahler scored the Wolves' first goal at the 14:28 mark from a free position shot, making it a 6-1 Bears lead.
Neither team scored for eight minutes following that marker, but the hosts finished with a four-goal flurry to hold a 10-1 halftime advantage.
Grosvenor scored from a free position shot at the 24:57 mark, but it was all Bears from there, as Newberry's three shots in the ensuing portion of the second half were all saved. Lenoir-Rhyne outscored Newberry 10-1 in the second half as well.
