Box Score MILLEDGEVILLE, GA- The Newberry College baseball team fall to 24-10-1 overall after dropping to the Bobcats of Georgia College 9-2, on Tuesday afternoon.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Danton Hyman (Prosperity, S.C.) and Daymon Totherow (Danville, Va.) both scored one run each while Tommy Passerello (Davenport, Fla.) and Michael Gonzalez (Wilsonville, Ore.) drove in one runner each.
- Robert Westenrieder (Taylors, S.C.) was tagged with the loss throwing 2.0 innings. Westenrieder gave up five hits and fours runs. John Mason Reynolds (Taylors, S.C.) gave up one hit and two runs in 1.1 innings while Cody Ezzell (Greensboro, N.C.) gave up three hits in 0.2 innings.
- Austin Walker (Charleston, S.C.), Hunter Hill (Little Mountain, S.C.), Christian Pope (Powder Springs, Ga.), and Tyler Fuhr (Anderson, S.C.) all logged one inning on the bump. Fuhr gave up two runs and two hits while Hill gave up one hit and one run.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Bobcats scored six runs before Newberry got on the board. Wommack started the game for Georgia College with a homer. Wommack scored again in the third inning when Cook homered also sending Mattix home for a 4-0 lead. Green and Cody scored in the bottom of the fourth when Mattix singled to center field.
Newberry scored its only two runs of the game in the top of the fifth inning. Hyman scored the first run unearned when Passerello reached on an error by the shortstop. Totherow scored Newberry’s final run of the game when Gonzalez singled to third base.
In the bottom of the six Georgia put one run on the board with Mattix scoring on Purcell’s sac fly. Georgia took the win in the bottom of the seventh with two runs scored by Mattix and Wommack on Cook’s double to center field.

The Wolves head to Tennessee to play Carson-Newman University this weekend for a three-game series. The South Atlantic Conference matchup begins on Friday, April at 2 p.m.
